COOLER BEDROOM - CARMEL, IN

The customer wanted to make their master bedroom into a spa like retreat. I replaced the head and foot board with a custom wall mounted headboard using a new Clark and Clarke fabric. This added much needed space to the room. I replaced the standard bed frame with a Hollywood metal box frame. This will protect the mattress and box springs from dust and keep the carpet beneath the bed clean. In addition it raised the bed so that the customer says she feels just like a queen now. I added two Elk wall mounted swing arm lights on either side of the bed giving great task lighting for reading. The customer had a purple quilt folded over 4 times at the foot of the bed. I used this material along with trim from the Robert Allen Collection to make a single layer end of bed throw and accent pillows. I used a Duralee faux silk embroidered fabric for the bed skirt, duvet cover and pillows. The fabric used for the window treatments were used for a pillow sham and accent pillow.

I replaced the dated floor lamp with an updated model and removed a fake tree from the ceramic pot and used much more updated, less bulky decorative twigs. We kept the existing chaise and added a new accent pillow.

The original armoire was outdated and damaged on one side. I had this cut down into a modern entertainment center. This allowed us to keep the existing furniture which the customer liked and was in great shape. I mounted the TV on the wall so the couple can comfortably watch from the bed or turn towards the chaise.

I replaced the existing mirror over the dresser with an updated custom one and added a matching floor mirror. Although there was a rough in for a chandelier the couple had never had one so I added this mid sized Elk chandelier which matches the swing arm lamps by the bed. In the future they would like to replace the chaise with a new one with no arms so that it can be moved angling out from the right corner. This will free up space to add a writing desk. I will use dark woods in this area to separate it from the rest of the room. In addition we have already chosen a paint color for the window wall to really make this area pop like the rest of the room.
